General Questions

1. What is Identity Journey™?+

Identity Journey™ is a live, guided 8-week program that helps build real identity growth in Black children ages 8–12. One shield a week, taught live,  online by a certified retired Black educator, with a real before and after comparison using  the Transformation Scorecard.

 

2. Who is the program for?+

Black children ages 8–12. Sessions are grouped into cohorts of up to 25 children who move through all 8 weeks together.

 

3. Is this online or in-person?+

Fully live and online. Your child meets their educator and cohort face-to-face over video, every week — not a pre-recorded video, not a workbook.

 

4. How long is the program?+

8 weeks, start to finish — a Welcome Week, six shield-building weeks, and the closing Unshakeable Ceremony.

 

5. What does my child need to participate?+

A device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and about 45 minutes at the same time each week. You'll also spend roughly 15 minutes with them on a short home activity between sessions.

Program & Enrollment

 

6. How much does it cost?+

$147 for the first child. Every additional child in the same family enrolls at the Multi-Child Price of $97 — with no limit on family size.

 

7. What platform do sessions run on?+

Cohorts meet and are managed through Skool. After enrolling, you'll receive a Skool invitation with your child's session schedule, the Educator's contact info, and access to all weekly materials.

 

8. What if my child misses a session?+

Let the teacher know as soon as you can. Missing an occasional session won't remove your child from the cohort, but consistent attendance matters both for their experience and for Transformation Guarantee eligibility (see Refund Policy below).

 

9. Can I switch my child to a different cohort?+

Yes, if space is available in another cohort that hasn't yet started or is early in its 8 weeks. Email us and we'll do what we can to accommodate the schedule change.

 

10. Do I need to do anything before the first session?+

Yes — complete the Pre-Program Scorecard before Adventure 1. It takes a few minutes and sets the baseline your child's growth will be measured against at the end of the program.

03 · 100 Black Kids

100 Black Kids Initiative

 

11. What is the 100 Black Kids initiative?+

Our give-back referral program. Every year, 100 children receive the full Identity Journey™ program -  a $147 value -- completely free .   Funded  by the families who refer other families in. Refer 2 families who enroll and pay, and your own child earns a free enrollment.

 

12. How do I earn a free spot for my child?+

 

Three steps:

• Sign up for 100 Black Kids — free, takes under a minute.

• Get your unique referral link, generated instantly.

• Share it with Black parents in your network.

When 2 families enroll and pay using your link, your child earns a free Identity Journey™ enrollment - a $147 value , at no cost to you.

 

13. Do I need to enroll my own child to participate?+

No. Signing up and sharing your link is free and open to anyone — you don't need to be an enrolled family to participate or refer others.

14.  Do my referrals need to stay enrolled for my reward to count?+

Yes. Both referred families need to remain enrolled through session 2 of their cohort. This keeps the program funded the way it's meant to be — by families genuinely participating, not just signing up and canceling.

 

15. How many free scholarships can my family earn per year?+

One free scholarship per household, per year — this keeps the 100 spots spread across as many families as possible.

 

16. Can I refer family members or people I already planned to enroll?+

Referrals should be genuine — someone who wouldn't have found Identity Journey™ without you. We review referral pairs, and coordinated sign-ups between the same households across cycles may be flagged and excluded.

 

17. When do I find out I've earned my scholarship?+

As soon as your second referred family completes session 2, you'll get an email confirming your child's free spot, along with instructions to enroll.

18. What if all 100 scholarships are already claimed this year?+

You can still refer and earn — you'll be placed on next year's list first, and we'll notify you the moment the new cycle opens.

04 · Refund Policy

Refund Policy Questions

 

19. Can I get a refund after attending just session #1?+

No. One session doesn't produce a before-and-after — there's nothing yet to measure. The Transformation Guarantee is judged on whether the full program worked, not on a single week of it. See the next question for exactly how the guarantee works.

 

20. What is the Transformation Guarantee?+

If your child completes the full 8-week Identity Journey program and their Transformation Scorecard shows no measurable growth across the six identity dimensions, we refund every dollar you paid — not a credit, not a partial. We can make this promise because transformation is what the program is built to produce, and we measure it before and after. If it doesn't happen, we haven't done our job — and you shouldn't pay for it.

 

21. Who is eligible for the guarantee?+

Any family who enrolled and paid for Identity Journey — at the standard or Multi-Child price. Each enrolled child is covered individually by their own Scorecard results. Families who received the program free through the 100 Black Kids Initiative or the a Atlanta drawing are not eligible, as no payment was made.

 

22. What are the qualifying conditions?+The guarantee measures whether the program works when a child actually goes through it. To qualify, a family must have genuinely participated:

• 1.  Attend at least 7 of the 8 live weekly sessions.

• 2.  Complete at least 6 of the 8 weekly home activities.

• 3.  Complete both Scorecards — the Pre-Scorecard and the Post-Scorecard.

23.  How is "measurable growth" defined?+

The parent completes the Transformation Scorecard twice — before the program begins and again after it ends — across six identity dimensions: Identity Confidence, Cultural Pride, Emotional Grounding, Belonging, Self-Expression, and Resilience. Measurable growth means an improvement in the child's overall Scorecard results from the pre-program assessment to the post-program assessment. If the post-program score shows no improvement over the baseline, the guarantee applies.

 

24.  How and when do I claim my refund?+The Claim Window

Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the Identity Journey program end date.

 

Requests made after this window cannot be honored.

• Include your child's name and the cohort they completed.

• We confirm attendance, activity completion, and both Scorecards.

• Once verified, your full refund is issued to your original payment method within 10 business days.

 

25. What isn't covered by the guarantee?+

 

In fairness to every family, the guarantee does not apply in these situations:

• Families who did not meet the qualifying conditions above

• Requests submitted after the 7-day claim window

• Programs received free of charge (including: 100 Black Kids and  Atlanta drawing winners), as no payment was made

• Withdrawal from the program before completion — the guarantee applies to families who finish, not those who stop partway
